JTG’s quarterly company outing was held in a picturesque resort far away from the dust and grime of the city- the Best Western Resort Country Club in Manesar. On a beautiful cold morning, members of the Josh family made their way to the famous venue for a day of team building activities and plenty of recreational fun.
The main focus of the day-long workshop would be to inculcate qualities of communication, team work, leadership and collaboration.
After a piping hot breakfast of puri aloo, poha and sandwiches, the activities for the day began with warm up activities under the supervision of the supervisor, Rupam Ganguly from Blue Sky Consulting. A number of activities had been planned meticulously with people being divided into 3 teams.
Human centipede- Based on the basic design of a caterpillar, the entire team has to coordinate every move and walk in unison inside a plastic sheet in the form of a hamster wheel. The perfect activity to teach collaboration and teamwork.
Ping pong madness- The Objective for the team is to transport a PING PONG ball from one cup to another by filling those cups with water to lift the ball up and blow air on to push it to the next cup .8 to 10 cups will be placed in line depending upon the number of participants .
Net crawl- The objective is for your team to pass through the tunnel one by one while carrying the given object as fast as possible.
Balloon Jump- Mastering the art of jumping and walking with balloons strapped all over you.
Lean in coin drop- The activity involves picking up items with their points marked on them. Items placed farther away have more points. The more they lean the more their chances of falling so they have to trust and depend on their team members to win.
Number Stamping- The numbers 1 to 40 in the form of number cards will be strewn across the lawn and every team has to stamp on the maximum number of cards. The activity is a great way to learn to work together as a team.
Grand Railroad- One of the main activities which rounded off the day and was conducted post lunch.
•The Whole team is broken into sub groups and become JV partners of a consortium.
•Sub teams share thoughts and ideas but not men and material
•They need to build the longest model railway line that is compliant to strict norms.
•The Track is tested with a ball that needs to run from start to finish continuously, un assisted.
•Several conditions are imposed to mimic organizational realities where the external factors are out of their control
Recreation and relaxation
But team building activities weren’t the only things that the folks at JTG participated in. A day at the resort was also meant to be a day of utter relaxation and enjoyment and our team members had a field day lazing around the beautifully manicured lawns, relaxing on swings, and playing volleyball, basketball, pool, and table tennis.
Refreshments-
The breakfast buffet was followed by another sumptuous lunch buffet with plenty of nibbles in between! As most Indians would agree, ‘Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.’
Birthday Celebrations-
The fun quotient of our team outing was further amped by the birthday celebrations for November. And as we’re all aware, birthdays at JTG are wild! The cake cutting was followed by JTG’s signature ritual- cake smashing, where the faces of JTG-ites are stuffed into the cake. Might get very very messy….but hey, who’s complaining????
